Tokyo artist Shohei (aka Hakuchi) Otomo(featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 20). The only son of great manga artist Katsuhiro Otomo, the acclaimed writer and director of the anime cult classic Akira, Hakuchi carries on his father’s legacy with his own graphic illustrations that combine Japanese iconography with a dark, retro-punk edge and a healthy dose of sardonic humor.  — ©ourtesy of   Hi-Fructose feature –

Today, we may have come across our favorite Tumblr blog to date. “The Carter Family Portrait Gallery” features the faces of Beyoncé, Jay Z, Blue Ivy and the family’s famous friends painted onto famous classic works of art (can you spot the Obama cameo?).

Vargas Pin-up Girl [Esquire] c.1945

Peruvian artist Joaquin Alberto Vargas y Chávez, who back then went by the moniker Varga, was the illustrator for a 1945 calendar issued by Esquire Magazine.
