Not so Poor, Pitiful Paula, Please Please just shut-up.

Well! Just thought I would get on the Paula Deen train by throwing in my 2 cents. It’s uncanny, that with ALL Miss things money, it is “not” saving this sinking ship from bedrock. It probably has to do with the fact that the use of the “N….” word is exclusively reserved for the young & foolish. Yes, I said young & foolish. By young I mean, those 25 years old or younger. Black, White or otherwise.

Did Miss Paula believe that she could get away using the “N….” word as recent as she has, to folks around her as if they don’t pay her any attention. Doesn’t she know & understand what being a Public figure entails? Simply put Paula, You belong to EVERYONE. The World owns You, Body & Soul. You should-a asked “Michael Jackson” !

You no longer are free to exercise your Prejudices, Opinions, Interest or Aspirations without the approval of your Personal Agents, Publicity Agents,

The Body Shop - Know Your Mind, Love Your Body

Remember when you used to pull posters out of magazines and safely remove the staples to avoid major holes going on? No ?

Then you’re probably under thirty.

I had this poster on the wall next to my bed when I was a teenager.  I think I pulled it out of a magazine I picked up in store  at The Body Shop.  I blu-tac’d it up on my bedroom wall and it lived there for years.  As far as I remember, it was on the wall in my university halls of residence room as well, not sure what happened to it after that though. I’ve always been overweight and this poster always made me smile despite that. I’d forgotten all about it until I spotted it tonight on Twitter so Thank You to The Body Shop and Emma C for the memories. I don’t feel so bad about eating that Lindt bunny I’ve been saving now.

At what point are you considered OBESE-iST ?

You know you’re overweight when you need a wheelbarrow to whip to McDonalds!

I’m not going to lie, one thing that really gets on my nerves is obesity. Sure I’m slightly pudgy myself but I would never let myself get to the point of looking like a Christmas pudding.  The one thing I really can’t understand about obese people is, why do they let themselves get like that? What has gone on in their life to make them think that being so overweight is acceptable and OK? They look gross and disgusting and not only that, they’re seriously damaging their health. Another thing, why do really fat girls wear leggings?

Dalí & Lorca. Dear Salvador, Dear Lorquito

©ourtesy of pinkagendistdalilorca

Today there’s an article in El País about a new book by journalist Victor Fernandez called Querido Salvador, Querido Lorquito (Elba). It’s about the letters between Dalí and Lorca. Forty or so survive. Apparently Gala destroyed some in jealous fits.

Social Security moves to be socially responsible on Trans Rights

The Social Security Administration has just inched its way forward in equality by allowing transgender people to change their listed sex without having to prove they’ve gone through gender re-assignment surgery. However that doesn’t mean there aren’t still hoops to jump through. The SSA must receive a letter from the persons doctor confirming they have had “appropriate clinical treatment for gender transition.” Again, this is still good news the National Center for Transgender Equality points out “no specific type of treatment is required, and details of your treatment should not be included in the letter from your physician to the SSA.” Hear that? The fight for equality is even being won in the Social Security offices.   Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality replied to the good news in a statement saying:

“Most people may not see this as a big deal, but transgender people know that this seemingly small technical change will protect their privacy and give them more control over their own lives.”

Another minor, but still substantial victory for equality. — Story via Salon.
